Hate
In The Box
- the band behind
Razorblade Fairytales

Hate in
the Box
is candy coated horror rock. They
are a five piece, all-live, whirlagig of musical mayhem, a perfect
picture of innocence lost and childhood memories shattered. Blaspheming
the boundaries of the NYC underground, their music is often likened to punk, rock, goth,
and industrial while angering the purists of each.
They've crept out of the toychest to deliver performances unto the
world of their uniquely colorful vision of rock.
Hate in the Box has the full on stomp to perform
anywhere and leave no one disappointed. Outrageous costumes, outlandish
visuals and a rocking energetic delivery have led to bookings at
such
infamous establishments as Limelight, China Club, CBGB's, Spirit and
Webster Hall for their monstrously melodic dark carnival performance.
Live, Hate in the Box is an animal unto itself, featuring interaction
with the crowd in myriad forms, huge toy bunnies filled with candy,
theatrical costumes and makeup designed by frontwoman Rainbow Blight.
The Hate in the Box performance is a highly
charged combination of songs delving into vocalist/lyricist Rainbow Blight's twisted world of
dolls, decay and death. Every song tells a story, either bestowing old
tales with a shocking, morbid twist or weaving brand new tales for a
decidedly grown-up storybook. Along with a developed lyrical punch, the
music has more stomp than a pair of well worn combat boots, stained
with the music-box-from-hell keyboards of Optimus Crime.
A favorite for goth, rock and fetish events, they
were the main stage headlining musical act for last year's Black and
Blue Ball, the northeast's largest and most decadent fetish
free-for-all. Hate in the Box has shared the stage with industrial
rockers Hanzel und Gretyl and The Genitorturers. Along with steady
airplay in California and in the midwest, the hottest clubs in the
northeast spin their music.
The mad scientist Optimus Crime can usually be
found in his lab creating twisted monstrosities of musical mayhem.
During one such experiment, the unexpected occured! A truck full of
broken, abandoned toys headed for a dusty shelf broke an axle, skidded
and crashed into the lab. The combination of all the sorrow and
bittersweet memories stored in the toys and the musical and
technological wonders in Crime's lab produced:
Rainbow Blight--
the Living Doll
Like one of the Abominable Dr. Phibes Automaton musicians suddenly
gaining a mind of it's own, Blight brings technicolor madness to the
entity known as Hate in the Box. Her self-made
deconstructed costumes
echo cartoons and dolls brought to nightmarish life. Relics of
childhood and death decorate her weapon of choice- the mic stand. The
art she creates (which can be seen on this website and on all Hate in
the Box albums) mirrors the lyrics she writes; broken toys in a
fractured fairytale, longing to be whole.
MephisToy,
the latest addition to our toychest,
was created by the devil himself to corrupt the hearts and minds of all
who hear his melodies. After some experimentation he found that only
the bass guitar has tones
thick and low enough to disguise his
subliminal messages. A frequent mischief maker in Satan's ranks, he now
plys his trade on earth and found a perfect place to raise a little
hell...with Hate in the Box!
Demonik~
Beautifully hand-crafted in the forges of
hell, Demonik, the drummer for Hate in the Box, was smuggled out when
Mephistoy joined forces with HITB. Part cyborg, part demon, 100%
drumming maniac, Demonique supplies hard
hitting drums that have only
made the live performances even more energetic, drawing the havoc out
of the helpless audience with the speed of her sticks.
